Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Smokes CNN Shill: ‘US Is Funding Terrorists’ in Syria (Video)
by Enrico Braun on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) may have more sense than all the other democrats (and most republicans) in congress put together.Ms. Gabbard appeared on the Chutzpah News Network (CNN) and answered questions about her alignment with President-elect Donald Trump on foreign policy. Gabbard denounced the US policy of regime change and support for radical Islamic terror in Syria, accusing Washington of direct material support to the terrorists. Here’s the most explosive part of the interview:Jake Tapper: « Are you really suggesting that US govt is funding these terrorist groups? »

Italian Voters Dealt EU Serious Blow – Trump to Push Europe Toward Moscow
by Tyler Durden on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
Matteo Renzi resigned as the Italian Prime Minister after the people of Italy voted «no» in a historic referendum on constitutional reform on December 4. The vote results triggered a shock wave across Europe much like Brexit. It’s up to Italian President Sergio Mattarella now to decide what will happen next – an appointment of new prime minister supported by parliamentary majority or a snap election, paving the way for an anti-euro party, the 5-Star Movement, to come to power.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE: Russians Beat Aliens, Terrorists and Nazis as Most Frequent Enemy in Video Games
by Michael Beck on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
Here’s an interesting tidbit from a study published in the Washington Post from this past April:We find that Russians are enemies in 21 percent of games (12 games), one fewer instance than generic humans (13 games) and one more than aliens (11 games). Even if we consider Latin American (6 games) and Middle Eastern terrorists (5 games) as a single combined category, the number of games with Russian enemies is still greater.

by Richard Brandt on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
We just stumbled across this quote from early August, from Newsmax: »Sessions also pushed back on criticism of Trump over reported ties to Russian investors — calling it « not the big issue for America today » — and lauded Trump’s plan to build better relations with President Vladimir Putin. »

Syria Tragedy: Saudis and Israel Hold Puppet Strings of US Mideast Policy
by Robert Parry on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
If someone wants to become somebody in Official Washington, there are certain lies that you must assert as undeniable truths, almost like flashing a secret sign to gain entry to an exclusive club. For instance, you must say that Iran is the world’s “chief sponsor of terrorism” though that is patently false. The problem is that a much bigger sponsor of terrorism is Saudi Arabia, with some competition from Qatar, but those two Gulf states are extremely wealthy U.S. “allies” and their hatred of Iran is shared by Israel, which possesses the most intimidating foreign lobby in Washington. So, deviation from the “Iran-chief-sponsor-of-terrorism” mantra marks you as someone who is not part of the club and never will be.

Lyin’ New York Times Tries Very Hard To Suggest That Putin is a Neo-Nazi
by Paul Robinson on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
‘Extremists turn to a leader to protect Western values: Vladimir Putin’. So screams the headline of an article in Sunday’s edition of the New York Times. The article takes up an entire page, an indication that the newspaper’s editors consider its message to be of great importance. It says:Throughout the collection of white ethnocentrists, nationalists, populists and neo-Nazis that has taken root on both sides of the Atlantic, Mr. Putin is widely revered as a kind of white knight: a symbol of strength, racial purity and traditional Christian values in a world under threat from Islam, immigrants and rootless cosmopolitan elites.

by Adam Hill on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
Darn! Don’t you just hate it when a major « Syrian opposition » media outfit that is a frequent source of information for Western media turns out to be a western government front?A story in Alternet yesterday exposes the media offices of something called the « Revolutionary Forces of Syria » is actually run by westerners based in Turkey and paid for by the British government. The outfit gave itself away when it tried to recruit a managing editor. Russia’s Artistic Revival Showcased at Huge Cultural Conference in St. Petersburg
by Neil Clark on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
How to protect and promote national culture in the era of turbo-globalization? How to fight back against the ‘dumbing down’ of education and public life? What is the role of the national education model in a crisis of culture and social values? These were just three of the important topics up for discussion at this week’s Fifth St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The Forum constituted 275 separate events across 92 venues in Russia’s magnificent Northern capital (its beauty enhanced by seasonal snow and ice) and involved cultural activists and participants from all over the world.

General Petraeus Wouldn’t Survive ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Because He’s an Incompetent Phony
by Ray McGovern on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
The news that President-elect Donald Trump called in disgraced retired Gen. David Petraeus for a job interview as possible Secretary of State tests whether Trump’s experience in hosting “The Celebrity Apprentice” honed his skills for spotting an incompetent phony or not.Does Trump need more data than the continuing bedlam in Iraq and Afghanistan to understand that one can earn a Princeton PhD by writing erudite-sounding drivel about “counterinsurgency” and still flunk war? Granted, the shambles in which Petraeus left Iraq and Afghanistan were probably more a result of his overweening careerism and political ambition than his misapplication of military strategy. But does that make it any more excusable?

by Gotnews on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
Editor’s note: ‘Golodryga’ is a funny-sounding name to Russians, because one of its meanings is ‘colder than a witch’s tit’, or ‘cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey’.

Khodorkovsky-Funded Neocon Slimebag for Hire Tells Trump to Partition Syria (Michael Weiss)
by Dean Parker on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
The nasty, embarrassing neocon hack, Michael Weiss has spent years calling for people other than himself to wage a fullscale war on Syria. Election of Donald Trump, however, has put a dampener on his hopes to the point he has now been reduced to calling for a mere permanent occupation of a part of Syria (for now):

US and Russia Are Not at War and It Is Not Helpful to Pretend They Are
by Paul Robinson on Fri, Dec 9, 2016
A few years back, one of the big discussion topics among international relations professors was the idea of ‘securitization’ devised by the ‘Copenhagen School’ of security studies. Securitization theory suggested that security was ‘an essentially contested concept’ – i.e. that there isn’t an objective definition of ‘security’; it is what you say it is. Security is a ‘speech act’. By labelling something as a matter of ‘security’, you make a claim that it is of special importance, requiring a special response, including additional state resources.
